How to use this calculator

Enter the gross website price, GST, product cost, ROAS, returns and RTO. Add gateway and delivery costs, then compare expected profit with the break-even and target-margin recommendations.

Worked example

At ₹1,699 with 10% returns, 5% RTO, a 2% non-refunded gateway fee, ₹80 delivery costs and 2.3× ROAS, the sample inputs produce about ₹112 expected profit and an 8% margin.

What the estimate leaves out

Gateway refund rules and tax treatment vary. The estimate excludes fixed overhead, discounts not reflected in selling price, warehousing, support and settlement timing. Validate it against actual orders.

Use inputs from the same reporting period and compare the result with your actual costs before making a decision.

Is this direct website order profitable after all variable costs?

Gateway fee refund
Turn this on only when your payment provider refunds its fee for returned and RTO orders. Otherwise the fee is charged on the full placed-order value.
Expected logistics
Forward delivery is charged once per placed order, with return and RTO reverse costs weighted by their respective rates.
Break-even ROAS
The minimum return on ad spend at which modeled profit reaches zero while the other inputs stay unchanged.

Why it matters

Price Direct Orders Using the Full Cost Picture

Selling directly removes marketplace commission, but gateway fees, delivery failures and acquisition cost can still turn revenue into a loss.

  1. 01

    Model delivery outcomes

Weight successful revenue, return handling and RTO reverse costs instead of assuming every placed order converts.

  2. 02

    Check the target margin

See the gross selling price required to reach your selected profit margin under current operating assumptions.

  3. 03

    Find the ad-spend limit

Break-even ROAS translates the remaining contribution into a clear advertising efficiency threshold.

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

How is D2C website profit calculated?

Expected taxable revenue is reduced by gateway fees, expected logistics, ad cost, expected product cost, return loss, processing and other entered costs.

Is GST on the gateway fee a cost?

It reduces the payout display but is treated as recoverable in this model. Confirm eligibility and treatment for your business.

Should the gateway fee be refunded on returns?

Enable the option only if your payment provider returns its fee for unsuccessful orders. The default assumes it is retained.

Does break-even ROAS guarantee profit?

No. It is a scenario threshold based on the entered costs and rates. Actual attribution, settlements and overhead can differ.
